We are pleased to announce that Leighton Middle School has organised a clothes & shoe collection with Bag2School. Bag2School is the UKβs leading textile recycler and fundraiser working with schools and since its inception in 1999 it has now paid out over Β£48 million. As well as raising vitally needed funds for the school, it also helps the environment by helping to divert unwanted textiles away from landfill. A recent DEFRA report has shown that textile collection schemes are helping to reduce the volume of textiles discarded as municipal solid waste. However it is a fact that as a nation we still send 350,000 tonnes of textiles to landfill every year. Bag2School will be collecting from Leighton Middle School on Tuesday 6th October 2026 at 9am. Please bring your bag (or bags!) to The Old House or Bridge Street Gate and help us have a really good collection. Please do not bring bags to school before the collection date. 3 Likes

We hope all of our children and their families had a lovely, relaxing summer. Weβre looking forward to welcoming all of our pupils back to school tomorrow - Thursday, 3rd September. Gates open at 8:30am. Please see below for a few reminders ahead of the start of the new term: β’ All pupils will spend the first three lessons with their form tutor β’ New homework diaries and timetables will be given out tomorrow β’ PE kit is required tomorrow for Linden 5, Maple 5 and Linden 6 β’ All snacks are brought into school in a pot - no wrappers please β’ Pupils come into school with a named water bottle that can be refilled β’ All items coming into school must be named β’ Pupils are in full school uniform - no trainers, boots or white socks over tights please β’ Shirt and ties are to be worn (no polo shirts). β’ If your child will be having a school dinner, please ensure that their account has been topped up under payments in Arbor. 32 Likes
π’ Thorpe Park Update π’ We expect students to return to school from Thorpe Park at approximately 6:30pm. Students will be dropped off on the Church Square side of the school. If their arrival time changes significantly due to traffic or any other delays, we will send you an update as soon as possible. Once students have arrived back at school, we will dismiss them as quickly and safely as possible. Itβs been an excellent year, and all of our pupils should be exceptionally proud of everything they have achieved. We wish all of our Year 8 pupils every success and happiness as they begin the next stage of their education at their Upper Schools. These fantastic SATs results are a shining testament to the relentless hard work of our children, the unwavering dedication of our staff, and the invaluable support of our families. π Our 2026 SATs Results: β¨ Combined Reading, Writing & Maths: 80% (National: 63%) π Reading: 91% (National: 75%) βοΈ Writing: 91% (National: 73%) β Maths: 86% (National: 75%) Not only are these results significantly above the national averages, they also place us well above the Central Bedfordshire averages, something our whole school community can celebrate. As Headteacher, I am immensely proud of the collective effort shown by every member of our school community and the progress every child has made. Success like this isn't built overnight, it grows from curiosity being nurtured, resilience being strengthened and potential being unlocked, day by day. To our amazing pupils, congratulations.
